"Wow na Wow Pilipinas" - Best of the Regions Re-opens

The Department of Tourism opens the "Best of the Regions" festivities for Visit Philippines 2004 on January 31 in Intramuros with its initial offering, the "Wealth of Wonders of Southern Tagalog Region."
Cognizant to this year’s main focus, tourist destinations, the festivities will commence at 3:30 P.M. with the opening of a Travel Fair at Clamshell 1, Anda corner Sta. Lucia Streets, showcasing the provinces of CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon) and MIMAROPA ( Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan).
A parade of festivals follows including Cavite’s Pahimis(Amadeo), Kawayan Festival(Maragondon) and Regada(Cavite City); Laguna’s Salibanda Sto. Niño Festival (Paete), Bañamos(Los Baños) and Coconut Festival(San Pablo City); Rizal’s Sikaran and Turumba Festival(Baras) as well as the Higantes and Parehadoras(Angono); Marinduque’s Moriones Festival and Romblon’s Pag-alad Festival.
Quezon brings their Pahiyas Festival (Lucban) and Maubanog Festival (Mauban) while Batangas livens up their Sugbuan Festival (Nasugbu) and Mindoro presents the Mahalta and Pandang Gitab.
Aside from these, the parade will also exude beauty featuring the Mutya ng Lumban and Mutya ng Cavite. Marching Bands from Laguna, Imus, Tagaytay City, Rizal will also join along with the Joaquin Guido Percussion Sounds and Angono Wind Ensemble to add more excitement.
The other activities lined up until February 22 include craft demonstrations such as Bibingka Making with sampaguita scent (Trece Martires City, Cavite); Kiping making and Bird Making (Quezon); Paete woodcarving and Paper Mache making (Laguna); Anahaw fan making and Salakot making (Quezon); Barong Embroidery (Taal and Lumban); Pandan making (Luisiana, Laguna); Nito and Basket Weaving, Tiger Grass Making, Herbal Soap Making, Bamboo Handicrafts Weaving and Marble Sculpture (Romblon).
Theatrical, musical and dance performances are also part of the Wealth of Wonders of Southern Tagalog led by Sinika and Pangkat Kalinangan Dance Troupe of Palawan together with Tanghalang Pitong Lawa of San Pablo City, Pedro Guevarra Memorial National High School Dance Troupe, Lahing Batangan Dance Troupe, Tanauan City Musical Guild, Teatro Baile de Cavite, Banda Kawayan and Imus Pitch Choir, Carmona Performing Arts Group and Himig Sanhaya Chorale of San Pedro, Laguna.
Merchandising booths are at the same time housed at Clamshell 1 where various provincial products like native delicacies and foods, handicrafts, garments, accessories, jewelries and many more selling at very reasonable prices.
