Where and why do you come up with this stuff? If you want to inspire towards greatness, begin with the vision. I can see that you are staunchly defending Philippine pride; however, focusing on all the negatives just reinforces the images and ideas that brings the image of Filipinos to lower levels. Let me challenge you to look at the positives of the Philippines and of Filipinos. We need more stories and examples of Filipino successes. Who wants to read more about why we the Philippines is poor, negative, corrupt, etc?? While I am both Filipino and Canadian, I'd like to reconnect with my roots and draw inspiration from examples of Filipinos who have demonstrated excellence in the global stage. Furthermore, if you can provide examples Philippine excellence from a National level, than will be even more inspiring.

Alfonso:

Filipinos' patronage of celebrities?

Such patronage happens not only in the Philippines. In Europe, Asia, and the Americas, celebrities also make it into the political arena.

What's wrong with that?

Public service is not an exclusive realm of licensed professionals and other highly educated individuals.

As long as the will and heart to serve is there, anyone can aspire for any political position.

Thanks for reading and for the comments.

Anti-Filipinos are really stupid. Thank you for your educating article. I, however, would like to ask: what can you say about people's patronage of celebrities to become politicians? One foreigner commented on Filipinos' patronage of local celebrities.
