emanila’s publisher Romy Cayabyab became the recipient of Multicultural Media Awards for Coverage of Community Affairs in Australia.
The award, one of nine awards in the first Multicultural Media Awards, was presented last Friday night (September 14) at the New South Wales Parliament House in Sydney.
This is the second major award given to Mr Cayabyab for his works in multicultural Australia. The first award was in November 2000 when emanila.com became the recipient of the inaugural Technology Award of Australia’s National Multicultural Marketing Awards.
Consul General Anne Jalando-on Louis was one of the first to congratulate Mr Cayabyab.
In accepting the award, Mr Cayabyab wrote that he hopes that the award will help in raising the profile of the Filipino community in Australia’s wider community.
In addition to his duties as publisher and editor, Mr Cayabyab also writes special reports on community affairs including elections, migration and social media in the community.
